A Radical Love…

Learning the law of love through the lens of Jesus has been a long and very personal journey between the Lord and I. You could say that one of the struggles in my life has been love, but particularly the love of God and learning to receive it for myself and then paying it forward to love my neighbor as myself. Let’s face it, loving Jesus is easy once you have tasted and seen His goodness, but it’s not so easy to look in the mirror and love yourself. One of the most powerful lessons I have learned is that God’s love is so radical and so large that it can be overwhelming to my flesh and my religious mindset. I simply can’t comprehend it.

The truth is that one of the most incredible benefits of the gift of prophecy is that I am constantly seeing what God chooses to show me in some of the dirtiest, messiest people and situations. It doesn’t take a gift to see the dirt God fashioned us from; in fact, it’s the easiest thing to do. However, it is by looking at people through the lens of God’s love that we can see the valuable, illuminated treasure in each human because we are all made in His image. Even when the Lord corrects us, it is not out of wrath. When we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, God sees us through the blood of his Son. We are His children. It is out of His powerful, never-ending love that He is calling us to come forth as the treasure He died for.

This multimedia, fluorescent acrylic on canvas was created over a year-long personal journey with the Lord as I learned to find the treasure not only in myself, but also in the messy people around me. I call this Love Lights because that is exactly what Jesus has done for me and does through me! His love lights up the precious gems of His nature inside of me and inside of you. He has called us to seek His shining face and then reflect His glory in a dark world. When we see Jesus for who He really is, He is irresistible. His love poured out for us on the cross washes away all the dirt, exposing the treasure within! Hallelujah! His love for us is not fragile and easily offended like we are! Rather, it is steadfast and never wavers.

This piece is near and dear to my heart; it carries an anointing to experience yourself as the treasure that Jesus left all of heaven to find. As you gaze at this piece, may you feel compelled to love yourself the way your Heavenly Father loves you because the cross determined your value long before anyone else could reject you.
